Two years ago I was in a bit of a dither. I was struggling financially, I considered that my age was against me, I had no confidence in myself and no clarity or direction. I didn’t know what I wanted in my future or how to go about changing my life or my mindset.
I had no belief in my ability to actually get myself through the next few years. I’d reconnected with that belief that I had when I was in my forties, that I wouldn’t be able to support myself through my later years. I was convinced that I was marking time till I could get my old age pension!
Woah! Stop right there!
So, what to do? I sat myself down – there may have been a glass of wine involved here – and did what I’ve done before, I took a long look at myself and gave myself a good talking to.
Fast forward two years and I can’t believe the difference in me and my mindset. I sat down with a coffee and my journal yesterday and wrote a list of what I’d changed in the last couple of years.
This is what I wrote:
· I’ve found my passion in life.
· I’m running my own business.
· I’ve proved to myself, in so many ways, that I can!
· I’ve regained that belief in myself and that confidence that had slipped somewhat in recent years.
· I’ve met some amazing people and now have a network of like-minded ladies around me.
· I’ve changed my mindset and come to understand the intricacies of how we can be in control of our lives.
· I’ve tackled technology … and won! (now that was big one)
· I’ve found the real me and I like her.
I’ve done what some people see as taking a few risks, but the results were definitely worth it. I really nutted out what I wanted from my future, I imagined having achieved it, I could see it, I could feel it, I could just about touch it.
And then I focused, I set some goals, worked out a plan and set about making that future happen just the way I wanted it to.
If I can do it from the place that I was in, then anyone can do it. It’s not rocket science, you just have to want that change and have the determination to make it happen.
So have a good long look at yourself and your future and ask yourself if you are taking steps right now that are moving you in the right direction.
Maybe you’d like a bit of accountability or just someone to bounce things off. If you’ve got that genuine ‘want’ to change your future, if you’re determined to make something out of your life and if you can commit to making it happen contact me with your phone number and I’ll personally give you a call so we can chat about where you’re at in life, where you’d like to be and how you’re going to get there.
I hope you’re having an amazing day
Encouraging read Pam and awesome how you were able to make such a big change in your life over the last two years!! I have found that too, that taking a few risks and writing and achieving some of my goals has made such a difference to my confidence. Still on that journey though. 🙂
Thanks Jane, it’s awesome that you’re achieving some of your goals and thereby boosting your confidence. Keep it up and you can take yourself wherever in you life you choose to 🙂
Beautiful work Pam, I work in a similar field and it’s so rewarding. So often we get stuck and stagnant in life, having someone to help and guide us can make a real difference
Thanks Helen, yes, I do find it very rewarding encouraging other women to set some goals, believe in themselves, and create an awesome that future that’s just waiting for them.
